Unfortunately, by the time you paid for it you'd be at least halfway to the cost of a solid i-series CPU with motherboard and DDR3. Still, I looked into my options without ditching the mobo. Two more lga775 ram of DDR2 wouldn't be a hilarious waste of money, but otherwise I'd hold off on anything too serious. Since the memory runs dual channel lga775 ram have to set fsb above before ddr slows you down. What should oly do? Suggested course of action: thunk in 2 more gigs of DDR2, then save your money for a while.

Switched em, and the WEI score jumped from 4. Lga775 ram straight to an i5 at some point in the future is probably a better bet - it's only going to be a couple hundred more, but it'll give you a new system that will last for a few years at least.

There's nothing in the Core2 family that is going to be markedly faster than what you have. I've decided to go to 4GB and upgrade to a 64 bit OS anyway. Get an e processor. I'm assuming this is true and ignoring the quad cores. Well that's enough lga775 ram now.

I've heard over and over that 4 cores make no difference over 2 for gaming. The cores never got over 70c, but I switched it back anyway. Last I looked, Core 2 Quads where quite expensive new, to the point that they're very hard to recommend over an i5 that will also be quite a bit faster.
